Drama is the study of the human communication process . Learn how you can use Improvisation to better identify stress triggers, pressure points, and to develop more effective ways to communicate with your colleagues. Being creative and learning to make creative choices helps colleagues to be better at thinking of new ideas, allowing them to view the world around them in new ways. This is essential in a company that seeks to be proactive in growing its diversity, equity, and inclusionary elements of staffing decisions.
Your team will then be cast into ensembles of my choosing upon observation of the group dynamics. Each small group will be given a playscript to then prepare into a production for their peers. Understanding characters, roles and the subtext of plays and musicals allows people to relate better to different situations, backgrounds, and cultures. It encourages them to show compassion and tolerance for others.
Theatre is a collaboration of different players and in many cases the quality of any performance reliance on an ensemble performance. Combining the creative ideas and the abilities of all participants is required for the best outcomes. This requires all those taking part to engage in discussions, feedback, rehearsing, and the performance. It seems obvious to say that theatre improves verbal and nonverbal communication. Importantly is also develops listening and observation skills. Drama brings elements of play, humour, and laughter to those taking part – improves motivation and reduces stress. Aggression and tension are released in a safe, controlled environment – often allowing for a period of reflection afterwards.
Our relationships with our colleagues can come under strain due to high demands including deadlines and challenging clients. The success of a working team is becoming more dependent on the ability to improve our emotional intelligence and handle the challenges in constructive and productive ways. In this workshop, Miss Donni will introduce you to improvisation and how it can help you handle unexpected challenges with strategy and confidence.
