YOUTUBE PLAYLISTS

Miss Donni's classes are #aWholeMood. Being careful to avoid sensory-overload, she has studied the value of Music Therapy and the calming effects of nature in a workspace. These are some of the playlists students will hear or see in her classroom.

Brown Noise

WHITE, PINK, or BROWN NOISE?

Brown noise has more power in the lower frequencies, giving it a bass-heavy, richer, rumbling sound that is deeper than white and pink noise. It has rich sound-muffling qualities and is thought to narrow focus, making it effective for listening to while working. Some research suggests it may help improve thinking skills. This video has only sepia-toned repetitive waves to ease distraction.

"THE PRESIDENT'S OWN" UNITED STATES MARINE BAND

Established by an Act of Congress in 1798, the United States Marine Band is America’s oldest continuously active professional musical organization. Its mission is unique—to provide music for the President of the United States and the Commandant of the

Marine Corps.

Therefore, it should surprise you there are 500 SONGS in this playlist.

AMBIENCE

Taking Better Notes

Our classroom has an Interactive Whiteboard. We write directly on this screen with nature on our eyeballs rather than a boring old blank white board. Meanwhile, it's also "white noise" to accompany focused reading times.

Starbucks Day

Some weeks we've worked so hard we just need a STARBUCKS DAY! This means a personal work day. It can be a little intense to catch-up on work or read a dense document. So we all bring in our coffee hosue beverage of choice, and get  on our grind.

(Coffee Grounds. Grind. ... get it?)

S.E.L.

The moments before tests or after an Emergency Drill can be stressful. We like to combat the tension an anxiety by gazing at and giggling with cute baby animal videos. WOO-SAH!

Upbeat PLaylists for Group Work

Dr. Dre Concerto?! Yes, please!

All instrumental, no lyric-worries. Kids will know the lyrics

Busy excitement

This is en-er-GE-tic ambience music. Perfect for days requiring self-motivated activity and very little direct listening. I use this in my Theatre classes on costume closet tidying days!

Keep Pace With Me

When you need to, literally keep everyone at the same workable pace, drum cadences arre awesome for this. Miss Donni is a veteran of DCI and an alumnus of an HBCU. She KNOWS drumlines. A cadence is used, most familiarly, to keep the entire band/corps on pace in between songs performed during a parade. Short and sweet, there's ROOM for you to give quick directions in betweenm such as during a group game.

Great for Solo Work with Little Conversation

ANIMAL KINGDOM

We like this one to keep us awake but focused while reading on our own. Great for fidgeters and toe-tappers without being distracted.

EPCOT WORLD SHOWCASE

We like this one becaue it's culturally inclusive and chill for researching or computer work.

JAZZY FAMILIAR TUNES

We enjoy this one once we get busy with projects.

Chillhop AMERICANA mixes Great For Partner Work

MAIN STREET USA

More Disney, I know. But between Liberty Square and the American Pavilion, there was so much to NOT leave out!

Lotsa Americana

From Bluegrass to the Blues, this playlist takes us on a tour of USA!

NPR TINY DESK CONCERTS

A cornucopia of American musicians perform at the National Public Radio office!

What I love most about bringing these concerts into my classrooms is students seeing famous and unknown musicians raw, unguarded, making mistakes, problem-solving their own tech or key issues, and cooperative group dynamics.

HAMILTON (BACKING TRACKS)
